Elena is an NPC who is heavily involved in both the Plague City and Biohazard quests. Elena is the start for the Biohazard quest. In the former, players save her from her entrapment by the Mourners in West Ardougne. In the latter, players are to aid her delivery of three different chemicals to a scientist in south-east Varrock. She is also somewhat involved in the quest Mourning's Ends Part I when the player need to visit her in order to get a sieve. She is scared if the player visits her disguised as a mourner. After Plague City, players can find Elena in her house in north-west of East Ardougne.
Elena is the daughter of Edmond and Alrena, who live together in a house just west of Elena's house. She is a missionary who voluntarily went to the plague-infected West Ardougne to try to help the people there.
- If a player tries to enter her house before he or she has done Plague City, the game will state that the door is locked.
- Elena wears a gold necklace containing an unknown pink gem, a new and unknown variety of gem. It is far too bright to be a red topaz.
- After Mourning's End part II, should the player talk to Elena, she will ask what the Mourners are up to, however, instead of responding, the player will ask for a sieve. If the player already has a sieve in his/her inventory, the conversation will be cut short.
- When the player is doing the Biohazard quest, after the Plague Sample, Liquid Honey, Sulphuric Broline and Ethanea are given to the player, they may talk to her again. If a player talks to her she will ask why the player hasn't left yet, he may respond by saying "It's just hard to say goodbye." If this happens Elena will respond by claiming she has feelings for you too, although in a comical fashion. This seems to imply a future love interest for later quests. This conversation occurs for both male and female.
