Elder pyre logs detail

Elder pyre logs may be used during the Shades of Mort'ton minigame, the Legacy of Seergaze quest or the Columbarium to cremate the remains of Loar, Phrin, Riyl, Asyn and Fiyr shades, as well as Vyre corpses and Tortured souls. They require level 95 Firemaking to light and grant 550 Firemaking experience when used to cremate a shade.

Preparation

To make Elder pyre logs, players must first obtain some sacred olive oil. Sacred Oil may be made during the Shades of Mort'ton minigame or the Shades of Mort'ton quest. To create the oil, players need to purchase normal olive oil from Razmire Keelgan's store in Mort'ton and then help to restore the temple that lies to the north of the town. This is best done on the Temple Building world - World 88. There are generally plenty of other players at the temple on this world, and it is fairly easy to rebuild the temple. An important thing to remember is to bring building resources with you each time. Bring them in the ratio of 1:1:5 (i.e., bring 3 limestone bricks, 3 timbers, and 15 swamp paste). The resources are taken from your inventory as needed and added to the general pool of resources (shown in the upper right corner as a percentage). As you add resources and build/repair the temple, you gain sanctity (again, shown in the upper right corner). You must have at least 10 sanctity to convert 1 oil or to light the sacred flame. Once the temple is rebuilt, players may light the altar in the centre of the temple and use their olive oil on the fire. This converts the ordinary olive oil into sacred oil.

Once the sacred oil has been obtained players will need to use four doses of it on some elder logs. These logs will then become Elder pyre logs and the player will be granted 16 Firemaking experience.

Use

Once a player has obtained the Elder pyre logs, they may use them, along with a set of shade remains (Loar, Phrin, Riyl, Asyn or Fiyr), upon one of the numerous funeral pyres located to the south-west of Mort'ton's centre. If the player has a tinderbox in their inventory or toolbelt, they may then light the pyre and, by doing so, release the spirit of the shade. The player will see an animation of the shade's spirit floating up, away from the pyre, and then either a key or a stack of coins will appear on the pedestal nearby. The type and level of the key is dependent on which shade remains the player has burnt, and with higher level shades leaving higher level keys.

After the Legacy of Seergaze quest, these may also be used to cremate Vyre corpses in the Columbarium under Paterdomus temple.

Trivia

  • When placed on a funeral pyre with a vyre corpse on top, they have the same appearance as magic pyre logs. This may be an oversight.
