Easter carrot

From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape

Two players whacking each other with the Easter carrot.

The Easter carrot is a holiday reward from the 2009 Easter event, received upon its completion. When equipped, it gives the option to whack another player, which makes you appear to hit the other player with the huge carrot. This is merely for effect, and no damage is actually dealt. Just like with the rubber chicken, whacking other players too many times will cause the player to 'fumble' the Easter carrot and automatically drop it on the ground with a message saying "You drop your carrot on the floor!", where it can be picked up again. It may be stored in a toy box in a player-owned house.

The carrot actually has large negative attack bonuses, making it almost impossible to actually damage players or monsters. Because of this, weapon was popular for building up PvP drop potential. Two players who trust each other and are around the same combat level may attack each other in a Hot Zone with the carrot while carrying 75k wealth or more. This makes sure neither of them will lose health and they can't be attacked by another player (assuming it's not multi-combat). An update made the drop potential stay the same when using this technique.

[edit] Trivia

The message that appears when a player is whacked with an Easter carrot.
A carrot sinks into the ground.
  • If players whack someone in Castle Wars, they get a message which says "They don't have the enemy flag."
  • The examine text is "Spreading carroty goodness since 2009", making it one of the few items in RuneScape that have a reference to the real life date.
  • The animations used for the Easter carrot (such as attacking and running) are the same animations used for the Ivandis flail.
  • If a player whacks another player then immediately does a graphically complex emote such as Freeze and Melt, the graphics will play around the player as they stay still.
  • If a player clicks to whack another player then quickly switches weapons, the "Whack" option will still appear despite the other weapon being wielded. Picking the "Whack" option while in this state does nothing, however.
  • The Easter Carrot was one of the very first items that had their animations tweened.
  • When dropped, the Easter carrot appears to sink into the ground.
  • Since carrots can be dropped, players can drop a carrot and ask for another one from Diango, however they will not be able to pick the dropped carrot up. They will get a message saying "You don't need another carrot. You already have one!"
