The Dragon impling is the rarest Impling that can be caught in the Impetuous Impulses minigame, and are located throughout Puro-Puro and RuneScape. The player needs at least 83 Hunter (or level 80-82 with a Hunter potion) to capture this type of Impling. Capturing a Dragon Impling will grant the player either 65 (if caught in Puro-Puro) or 300 (if caught on RuneScape) Hunter experience. These are heavily sought after by high-level hunters and fletchers primarily for the high level of profit and secondly as they can be looted to obtain dragon arrowtips.

To catch the Dragon Impling, the player needs either a normalSacred clay or magic butterfly net and some Impling jars. Once these requirements have been met the player simply clicks on the Dragon Impling, and the character will attempt to catch it.

As failure is possible and this impling is quite valuable, many players use their best snaring spell on the impling before attempting capture. The reason being, firstly, any impling which is held by a snaring spell is unable to teleport away, and secondly, to prevent the impling from flying onto obstacles which a RuneScape character cannot walk onto, like a river. However, note that the snare spell CAN miss (bounce off) this impling. The sound of the spell is different, and the animation of the failed spell is different too. The higher the player's magic level and magic attack bonus, the higher the chance of casting a successful snaring spell.
