The dragon spear is the fourth strongest spear available, just after Vesta's spear, the Zamorakian spear, and Guthan's warspear. This two-handed weapon can be wielded by members who have at least 60 Attack. It is an extremely rare drop from the rare drop table and from cremating vyrewatch. Dragon spears are cheaper alternatives to Zamorakian spears.

- Before the Evolution of Combat, this weapon used to have a special attack.
- Initially, the dragon spear was only obtainable as a rare drop from a Shadow warrior.
- Before an update in 2006[which?], the dragon spear was a possible drop from a Paladin.
- It is pictured on the cover of the "Runescape Official Handbook", although the book is specifically for the free to play game.
- Before the Evolution of Combat update, players were able to use Karambwan Poison to poison the Dragon spear. Any players who owned the Dragon spear (kp) before the Evolution of Combat update kept the item and its inventory picture stayed the same, but it became unwieldable.
