Double eyepatches are the result of having Patchy sew a left eyepatch and a eyepatch together. Left eyepatches are lootable items from Pirate implings, which can be caught after the Rocking Out quest. Right eyepatches can be obtained from killing low-level pirates, or bought at Trader Stan's Trading Post.
When speaking to an NPC, the appearance is that the character is wearing dark sunglasses, but on the equipment screen it looks like 2 different eyepatches wrapped around their head; the bands make an "X" pattern on the back of the head.

- The examine info, "It's dark, and I'm wearing two patches. Hit it!" is a reference to the movie "The Blues Brothers". In the movie, the main character Elwood says "It's a hundred and six miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes. It's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses." Following this, the other main character, Elwood's brother Jake, says "Hit it!".
