Daggers are small, one-handed weapons that can be used in melee combat. They are classed as stabbing weapons of the fastest speed. Their attack bonuses are identical to those of scimitars and maces, and are generally the cheapest melee weapons available at a given metal tier.

Before the Evolution of Combat, daggers used to be one of the few weapons that could be poisoned, but with a lower Strength bonus. This was than changed to give daggers roughly equivalent stats to scimitars and maces, in line with Jagex's decision that all weapon types should have comparable stats, so that what a player chooses as a weapon is more aesthetic at each level.
