Dagannoth kings
Supreme, Rex, and Prime

The Dagannoth Kings are considered one of the best bosses to kill for money. They are known to drop dragon hatchets, berserker rings, archers' rings, warrior rings, seers' rings, and other drops relatively often. Using a pack yak will further increase your profit as you will be able to bank the Dagannoth bones you receive.

Travel

The Dagannoth Kings reside in their comfortable lair in level 6 of Waterbirth Island Dungeon. Players will need to get past a series of doors to get down to them. To do so, either have a few friends come in, or use the "Burstinglobs" Friend chat to get down. After that, keep moving through the rooms and you'll eventually end up at floor 5.

The Kings reside on the sixth floor (which is the deepest) in Waterbirth Island Dungeon. Here are a few information about them:

  • Dagannoth Prime: The most deadliest Dagannoth King. You'll always want to pray mage when he's in there, as he can hit incredibly high on players (up to 610, meaning he can potentially 2-hit you). He is almost immune to melee attacks despite being a mage, so ranging will work well on him. However, he has a better overall loot then the other Kings (water talismans are in high demand and he drops a large number of them).
  • Dagannoth Rex: The Dagannoth King that uses melee on players. He can hit quite hard, up to 300 on players. However, being a melee user, he is noticeably weak to mage. Even with a low negative magic bonus, players can still find themselves hitting Rex as often. He can drop the Berserker and Warrior rings, useful for PvP combat.
  • Dagannoth Supreme: The Dagannoth King that uses magical ranged attacks on players. He can also hit quite hard, up to 300 onto players. He does not seem that dangerous, despite the magical ranged attack. However, once he targets a player, every player will be hit from his attack. His attack is multi-targeting magical ranged, and can be a deadly foe to new players.
  • Spinolyp: Though not a Dagannoth King, these are tiny little pests. Players will always want to avoid one of their attacks while fighting them, as each one has a special effect when they hit a player. If their ranged attack hits you, they'll do poison. If their magic attack hits you, you lose 10 prayer points.

How to kill the Kings

Players killing the Dagannoth Kings

The kings reside in a big circle arena. Spinolyp reside around the arena. They use poisonous ranged attacks, and prayer draining magic attacks. They are often a pest for people attempting to kill the Kings. The Kings are basically tolerant to players. If the player gets too close, they will immediately sense and attack the player, so you may want to avoid getting all of them to attack you. Prime respawns in the western side, Supreme at the entrence, and Rex in the east. This will help players know where to go when the boss spawns, and where to avoid unnecessary damage to themselves.

The Kings are very deadly to those who have never or has little experience in killing bosses (e.g King Black Dragon, Chaos Elemental, etc.) However, in a decent team, you'll want to tribrid (all three forms of combat) for the greatest success. Here is a decent, low-risking tribrid set that will appeal to most players:

Moderate risk

As Dagannoth Supreme is usually the king that does heavy damage onto players, some players prefer using extra ranged defence to nullify his and the Spinlyop's attacks, and bring Saradomin brew and restores to the field.

  • Helm: Verac's helm > Torag's helm > Helm of neitiznot
  • Body: Guthan's platebody > Torag's platebody > Verac's brassard > Royal d'hide body
  • Legs: Verac's plateskirt > Torag's platelegs
  • Melee weapon: Chaotic rapier > Abyssal vine whip > Abyssal whip
  • Range weapon: Chaotic crossbow > Rune crossbow
  • Mage weapon: Polypore staff
  • Boots: Dragon boots > Rune boots
  • Ring: Ring of wealth > Ring of life
  • Aura:
  • Gloves:
  • Ammo: Runite bolts > Adamant bolts
  • Cape:

  • Super restores and Saradomin brews (ratio of 1:3) potions/flasks
  • 2 Antipoison++
  • Emergency teleport
  • Best BoB
    • War tortoise - Ratio of 1:3 as said above.
    • Terrorbird - Ratio of 1:3 as said above
    • Bull ant - Ratio of 1:2 as said above

High risk

This is best used for players who do not mind losing items worth millions and are experienced in bossing. Otherwise, do not attempt this.

Drops

The Dagannoth Kings drop such good items often. Always pick the bones up as each one is worth enough to pay for some of the items used to kill them. Being a boss Dagannoth, they will always drop the unique Dagannoth bones, and their hides, which are of less worth value. If you are using Fremennik boots 4, the bones will turn into a bank note.
