Crayfish

From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape

A detailed image of the cooked crayfish.
Crayfish were introduced with the Lumbridge and Draynor Diary on 14 July 2008. Level 1 Fishing is required to catch a Raw crayfish, as well as a Crayfish cage, which can be obtained from the Lumbridge or Port Sarim fishing shop. 30 Cooking experience will be gained upon successfully cooking a crayfish (level 1 Cooking required), and eating one heals 2 hitpoints. They can be caught at cage fishing spots to the east of the Lumbridge Church, or from a small pond near Fred the Farmer's ranch, giving 10 Fishing experience. Members can also find a fishing spot for crayfish just west of the log balance to the Fremennik Province. Crayfish give good experience for free players. This is helpful because crayfish are caught very fast, much faster than shrimp and other low-level fish, but the rate of catching them appears to increase less when levelling up than with other types of fish.

Players will completely stop burning this at level 28 Cooking.

The image of this fish has changed repeatedly. Between September-October 2009, they have changed two times. They started as three small crayfish, was changed to a single small crayfish for about three weeks, then changed to a large one, similar to an upside-down lobster. Strangely, they have an icon of three small ones in the GE Database.
