He is the starting point for the Cook's Assistant and Recipe for Disaster quests. When the Cook's Assistant quest is completed, the player is granted use of his magical range, which has a lower chance of burning food when compared to other ranges. In Recipe For Disaster, it is revealed that his ancestor defeated the Culinaromancer.
The Cook also had a brother who appeared in the 2008 Thanksgiving event.

- If you try to use his range, he will say, "Hey, who said you could use that?" angrily. That means before you use his range, you need to help him.
- The Cooking Tutor bears a strong resemblance to the Lumbridge cook, having the same appearance.
