A Coif or Leather coif is an improved version of the cowl. It is part of the studded leather armour set, but doesn't require studs itself. It is the second best head gear for range available to free players, and the best to free players for a long time before the minigame Fist of Guthix was released, in turn releasing the Green d'hide coif, the best head gear for Ranged combat users. This item is often used in junk trading.

Members can make this item through the Crafting skill at level 38 from one piece of soft leather, giving 37 Crafting experience. It requires 20 ranged to wear. Additionally, Members can also turn it into a Feather headdress at level 79 crafting with 20 coloured feathers.

For every 4 coifs a player makes, one spool of thread is used.

An additional method of obtaining a Coif is through level one Treasure Trails (members only).

In Free-to-play Bounty worlds and PvP worlds, many high leveled players wear this armour against their opponents because of its small Defence bonuses.
