Cockroach workers are found in the Stronghold of Player Safety. They are good non-member monsters for mid-levelled players to train on. They also drop Crimson charms quite often, making the Stronghold a popular place to obtain charms for training Summoning.
They can hit 50s and 60s very often if Rune armour or better is not worn. As they occupy 2x2 areas, rangers and mages may fight them in safe spots in Level 5 of the Stronghold. Two cockroach workers have their spawn points enclosed in a small room with an exit only one tile wide so they cannot attack a player fighting them with a Range or Magic attack style from outside of the room. However, workers' defences are rather high, making it harder for low and mid-level players to deal damage to it. For members, a halberd can be used for safe Melee training, as it can attack up to two spaces away from the player, allowing you to strike melee attacks without getting hit.
Many players take free food from the nearby fishing spot when training on cockroaches.
Also the Monastery is nearby for healing or using the altar (level 31 prayer needed).
Medium-levelled players will sometimes kill this monster for their decent stackable drops on free worlds, and for their relatively good crimson charm drop rate for their level. If you have a decent combat level +70s, you can gain up to 40 Crimson charm per hour. +90s would produce roughly 60 charms per hour.
