A clue scroll (hard) is part of the Treasure Trail Distraction and Diversion, in which a player follows a series of clues leading towards a buried treasure. Completion of the clue scroll will either give a scroll box (hard), containing another clue, or a casket (hard), containing rewards for completing the treasure trail. Hard clue scroll rewards can range from a few thousand coins to over 1,060,000,000 coins if a rare Shadow Dye is obtained.
Hard difficulty clue scrolls are a random drop from a large variety of higher-level monsters. Looting a magical chest from the dwarven instinct aura, or unlocking silver key chests within the Shades of Mort'ton minigame can award hard clues scrolls. Stanley Limelight Traders sell hard clue scrolls for 45 thaler each. Alongside this, the Prosper perk allows players to gather hard clue scrolls while skilling.
Pickpocketing elven clan workers is an easy way to obtain a hard clue scroll. Using at least a tier 3 luck enhancer, such as a ring of fortune, increases the player's chance of finding a clue scroll, even from pickpocketing.
Hard difficulty clue scrolls are completed in 1-8 clues or steps.
This clue scroll may contain the following types of clues:
