A Chart is used for coordinate clues for the Treasure Trail activity. It must be in the backpack inventory along with a watch and sextant. A chart can be obtained from the Observatory professor at the Observatory. To obtain one, the player must have a sextant, a watch, and a clue scroll in inventory.

Multiple charts can be obtained via the Drop trick. Players who plan to go into the Wilderness on treasure trails are recommended to obtain multiple charts, as it is likely they will eventually encounter a deadly situation there that they cannot evade.

A chart is required for co-ordinate clues of a treasure trail. Without a chart, when arriving at the destination, nothing interesting will happen when digging in the correct spot. The chart can also be placed in the Toolbelt instead of being in the inventory.

A chart is also needed during the Defender of Varrock and A Void Dance quests.

The chart's examine text reads, 'A navigator's chart of RuneScape.' Presumably, this means it is a chart of longitudes and latitudes on Gielinor.

A watch and a chart can be stored in the Toolbelt, while the sextant can't. This is because the sextant is an interactive item, and interaction would be impossible if it is in the toolbelt.

Trivia

  • If one digs at the spot with Meerkats familiars, one does not require the chart, sextant, or watch, just the clue scroll in one's inventory.
