A Chart is used for coordinate clues for the Treasure Trail minigame. It must be used with a watch and sextant in the backpack inventory. A chart is obtained from the Observatory professor at the Observatory. The chart can only be obtained after acquiring and having in inventory a sextant and watch as well as a clue scroll.
Charts are necessary for co-ordinate parts of a treasure trail. Without a chart, when arriving at the destination, it nothing interesting will happen when digging in the correct spot.
A chart is also needed for Defender of Varrock quest.
Presumably, this is a chart of longitudes and latitudes in Runescape.
