Charcoal is an item that is used in some quests. Charcoal can be obtained from:
- Charcoal trees. Some dead trees in the eastern deep Wilderness and the death altar will give charcoal instead of logs .
- Some stores, for example:
- Shilo Village (45 coins each; main stock; 10 September 2009)
- Tai Bwo Wannai
- Gunslik's Assorted Items in Keldagrim (45 coins each
- Searching through a Specimen tray in the Digsite, with a Specimen jar in the player's inventory.
- Searching Laura's house in Past A in the Meeting History quest.
- Searching the Cupboard in the White Knight's Castle on the ground floor, in the room to the east that also has a jail cell.
Charcoal can be ground to ground charcoal with pestle and mortar.
Although this item is tradeable for non-member item, it has hardly any uses for free-to-play players. Before the Trade limit update, some players tried to scam and sell this item in free-to-play worlds for a large sum of money. Because it was an unknown kind of item, other players thought it was a rare, and bought it for millions of coins. There is a rumor that it is possible to obtain charcoal by using coal on a range, this is incorrect; it is uncommon today to see people spreading this rumor.
