Categorising templates

Templates themselves can be categorised - without affecting the pages that call them - by putting the category link inside <noinclude></noinclude> tags

<noinclude>[[Category:category name|{{PAGENAME}}]]</noinclude>

The "noinclude" tags specify that the link applies only to the template, and is not included during transclusion. To add an article, image, or category to this category, append [[Category:Templates]] to the end of the page.
