Smelting ores Edit

The following table uses live Grand Exchange Market Watch prices to calculate the profit or loss from smelting ores.

Note that smelting iron ore without a ring of forging at level 15 will only give a 50% success rate. At Levels 16-45 the success rate increases by 1%. This chance maxes out at 80% at Level 45. The table below takes account of this by requiring 2 ores to make an iron bar instead of 1 at level 15 and 1.25 ores to make an iron bar at Level 45.

A player can use a coal bag which is a Dungeoneering reward that can be purchased for 4,000 Dungeoneering tokens. It can hold up to 27 coal. For more information, see Coal bag.

For all bars except gold (which makes you lose money while smelting), you can calculate the amount of bars you can NOT sell and not lose any money. The formula is (Amount of bars in a smelting run*Profit per bar/Sale value).

Blast furnace Edit

The following table uses live Grand Exchange Market Watch prices to calculate the profit from smelting ores using the Blast Furnace activity. This activity reduces the amount of coal required by 50% and, unlike normal furnaces, never fails to make Iron bars from Iron ore. As a result profit per bar is higher, but there are additional requirements to using the furnace and it takes more effort to manufacture each bar. Ordan only unnotes coal and ores up through mithril.
