A Bucket of sand can be obtained by using empty bucket with a sand pit. Since sand pits are not very close to banks, players in need of sand may find it more convenient to get 84 free buckets daily from talking to Bert in Yanille after completion of the Hand in the Sand quest.
The primary use of sand is it being half of the ingredient in making molten glass. Players can use a bucket of sand on a furnace (if they also have soda ash in their inventory) to create molten glass which is used in crafting and construction.
It is also the tertiary ingredient in infusing Desert wyrm pouches.
Player using a Bucket of sand with a summoning pouch, a green charm and 45 spirit shards on a summoning obelisk can create a Desert wyrm summoning pouch.
