[FAQ] • [doc]

Brutes are Dungeoneering monsters that reside in Daemonheim, on the Furnished and Warped floors. Brutes also make an appearance in one of the puzzle rooms on the furnished floors.

They are members of the Rammernaut Guard. They can hit very high with melee. They take up 2x2 floor tiles.

Being melee fighters, brutes are primarily very weak to magic, specifically water spells. It is recommended to use the Protect from Melee prayer or Deflect Melee curse to reduce their damage, as they can hit very hard and fairly accurately. Another technique is to trap them behind obstacles as they have a body size that can be easily trapped.

Brutes are not affected by the passive effect of the shadow silk hood.

Monster-specific drops[]

These monsters can drop various mauls. The maul that is dropped corresponds whatever the brute is wielding. The only exception is the level 138 Brutes (who wield a primal maul - they will drop a promethium maul instead.

Other Drops[]

Quantities and rarities are random. Dropped food will usually be the second best you can fish and cook and drops in general will become less generous as you progress.

Trivia[]

  • It's possible that Brutes were bred by Bilrach as mentioned in Part 14 of the Chronicles of Bilrach, since he described the creatures he bred as having the "strength of the giants, the skin of the goblin and the size and basic intelligence of a human". The fact that Brutes are only found in Daemonheim further supports this.
  • The brutes' armour occasionally does not match the weapon they are using, such as primal maul wielding Brutes wearing gorgonite armour.
  • Originally, Brutes were not passable and would block players in a manner similar to the Brawler. This was eventually changed in a hidden update.
