A player casting the Bones to Bananas spell.

Bones to Bananas turns all normal bones in your inventory into bananas, which heal 2 health each. This spell can be used to stay fighting without having to use the bank for a long time; however, due to the relatively high cost of a nature rune and low healing ability of bananas, it is rarely used.

When the spell first came out in 2001, it was called Bones to Bread and required no nature runes. However, Jagex changed it as it was considered to be too powerful at the time of release.

This spell may be transferred to a piece of soft clay at a lectern in the Study of a Player-owned house, creating a magic tablet. The same runes are required, as well as the magic level needed to cast the spell, and the magic experience is gained at the time the tablet is created. The default option is to 'Break' this tablet, which casts the spell, but does not give any experience.

Bones to Bananas can now be used to convert any bones up to and including big bones. This was introduced with the 17 November 2009 update.

Remember, You cannot use Ancient Magicks or Lunar Magicks if you are using regular Magic.

Bones to Bananas costs 417 coins for each cast, 361 coins if an earth rune supplying staff is wielded, 337 coins if a water rune supplying staff is wielded and 281 coins if a Mud staff is wielded.

[edit] Tablet

A player using a Bones to Bananas tab.

The Bones to bananas tablet is an item that can be used by any player to change normal bones into bananas. Players can create this item on either a demon lectern, a teak demon lectern, or a mahogany demon lectern as long as they have 1 nature rune, 2 earth runes, 2 water runes, and 1 soft clay and at least level 15 Magic. This Ability is also widely used by pures as they often do not have the required Magic level for the spell.

This tablet can be made regardless of the player's current spell book.

[edit] Trivia

  • This is, in all probability, the spell which added to infamously unlucky pirate Unlucky Jenkins's resume of bad luck (It turned his ribs to bananas, which were promptly ripped out by monkeys).
