Blood dye is a possible reward from Treasure Trails and from the Giant Oyster. It is only a rare reward from elite clue scrolls with a drop chance between that of shadow dye and third-age dye. All tier 90 power armour and weapons (excluding defenders) can be dyed with it, provided that the item in question is not already dyed.
Once the dye is applied to an item, that item becomes untradeable, and the dye cannot be removed by any means. It is currently not possible to dye tier 90 tank armour. A warning message is given if the player attempts to use dye on eligible equipment.
When added to armour, it renders the armour repairable by using the raw materials to replenish charges. The repair mechanics of dyed weapons remain unchanged.
In a Developer Q&A on 2 March 2016, it was revealed that the drop chance is similar to third-age dye, and that 53 have been received to date. (The drop chance of third-age dye is approximately 1/50,960 per reward spot from elite clues, the per-clue chance of receiving at least one third-age dye from an elite clue is approximately 1/10,192).
The idea for this item was originally suggested on RuneLabs.
The following 25 items can be dyed:
|Item quantity required||1|
|Base junk chance||98.9%|
Blood dyed equipment
|Dragon ornament kits|
