The Black hatchet is a hatchet stronger than the Steel hatchet. It can be used in combat or in Woodcutting to cut trees. It can be found on Level 1 Treasure trails, obtained as a drop from Abyssal Demons, Black Demons, Vampires, Skeletal Wyverns or bought from other players. However, due to its rarity, players seldom use this hatchet.

As with all black weapons, players cannot make this item using the Smithing skill. It is also the only free player hatchet that cannot be made using the Smithing skill and it cannot be obtained in free player servers, aside from trading with other players or through the Grand Exchange.
