Black Knight

From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape

This article is about the monster. For the organisation sometimes referred to as the "Black Knights", see Kinshra.
Black knights may be confused with the similarly named Dark warriors

Black Knights (also known as the Kinshra) are medium level humans found mainly in and around their fortress. They are central to the Black Knights' Fortress (quest). Although they worship Zamorak and are hardened foes of the Saradominist White Knights of Falador, the Kinshra's current leader Lord Daquarius is a man of honour and integrity.

Black Knights are some of the oldest non-player characters in RuneScape. When the game was first released, Black Knights were the strongest foes in RuneScape at level 46. The boast "I can beat a black knight" was once held to be impressive. There were only three Black Knights in RuneScape at that time.

That is no longer true, though they remain more difficult opponents than their level suggests. Players who are so inclined can kill them for points after completing the Wanted! quest. Each Black Knight killed raises players' White knight rank, which in turn allows the purchase of additional White Knight Equipment from Sir Vyvin.

During a recent update, the colour of their armour and equipment was darkened, and the colour of their boots was changed from brown to black. Also, the Black Knight players face in the quest Wanted! has not been changed.

[edit] Trivia

  • The Black Knight's look can be imitated by equipping a set of black armour. A steel/rune heraldic helm with the crest of Zamorak can be used to further duplicate the Black Knight's amour in order to get a red crest you will need to talk to sir Renitee, since that helmet has a red plume rather than the blue plume of normal black armour. The Zamorakian crest can only be adorned by players with 70 Prayer. mime boots will complete the feet looks also you could have black gloves gauntlets or gloves of silence that will complete the look.
  • In RuneScape, Black Knights use black longswords. However, in the RuneScape-based FunOrb game 'Armies of Gielinor', they wield the same swords but use them as two-handed swords.
  • The Black Knight's plume on his helmet is always red; in contrast the White Knight's plume represents the knights rank but it is also said that elite black Armour could be the black knight's ranking.
  • When non-aggressive Black Knights attack, they make the same sound as a longsword. On the other hand, aggressive knights, such as those in the Black Knights' Fortress and the Wilderness, use the same sound as a two-handed sword on Chop or Slash.
  • Very early in the game the black knight was once the strongest NPC in RuneScape.
  • Black knights used to drop a pile of flour on the ground. This could only be picked up if a player had a pot in their inventory, resulting in the usual Pot of Flour.
  • The longsword graphic update has changed the colouring on their swords to look like the new Black Longswords.
  • The Black Knight's plume on his helmet is always red; the black helm that players buy has a semi-purple trim. However, a Steel heraldic helm painted in Zamorak colours is virtually identical, although the Zamorak crest requires 70 Prayer.
