Tune Bane Ore can enchant the arrows and bolts to be more effective against certain creatures. To cast the spell, one must target the item dropped by and resembling the creature which the ore has to be attuned to, rather than casting it on the ore.
When used on their proper targets, bane arrows and bolts provide a 18.75% damage increase to abilities and auto-attacks. Furthermore, they also appear to give an accuracy boost, although ranging high-level monsters resistant to Ranged (such as the mithril dragon) remains unfeasible.
Despite this available damage increase, the base damage on bane arrows and bolts is only that of rune arrows and bolts; a tier 70 bow or crossbow with matching ammunition would offer better damage and accuracy.
Producing the unfinished bolt gives 62.5 experience and produces 50 unfinished bolts per bar.
The following is a list of requirements needed to create the bolts (all skill levels are boostable apart from the quest's requirements):
- Ritual of the Mahjarrat
- 77
Mining to mine the bane ore
- 87
Magic to tune the ore
- 82
Smithing to smelt the ore and smith the unfinished bolts
- 80
Fletching to feather the bolts
