Ava's accumulator is a reward from the Animal Magnetism quest if the player's Ranged level is at least 50. It attracts most of a player's used ammunition back into the arrow or weapon slot and randomly gathers and generates steel arrows directly into your arrow or inventory slot. The generation rate is about one steel arrow or steel knife or steel dart every 180 seconds[source needed]. Ava's accumulator has the best range attack bonus (+4) currently in game for the cape slot.
If a player's Ranged level was less than 50, Ava's attractor is obtained. This item can be upgraded when the player reaches level 50 Ranged for the cost of 75 steel arrows.
Ava explains that an undead chicken inside the backpack holds a Magnet and twigs of an undead tree from Draynor Manor. Fired ammunition is attracted back with the magnet and put back into your equips, while additional arrowheads being attracted are attached with wood from the twigs and feathers from the chicken itself.
The device only works when worn in the cape slot, and the player may not be wearing any metal armour or any Barrows top on their torso since it interferes with the magnet. Note that Granite armour and Fremennik armour are not metal armour so the attractor and those armour may be worn simultaneously. It also works while wearing a Bandos chestplate, sacred clay armour or Varrock armour. Strangely though, White Armour doesn't seem to affect Ava's accumulator or attractor.
Ahrim's Robetop however stops the attractor from working, reason for this is that it is a piece of Barrows armour and that may seem to affect it.
As of 4 January 2007, the device will collect most of the players' own arrows as they fire them, saving them from having to pick them up; but it cannot do this if there's something in the way. The generation of arrows was also slowed with this update.
If you die while wearing the accumulator, it will not appear at your gravestone. This happens in the same way that mage arena capes and achievement diary items do. In order to receive another accumulator, the player must buy an attractor from Ava for 999 gold, and upgrade it with 75 steel arrows.

[edit] Replacing Ava's accumulator
Note: A player needs 999 coins to reclaim an attractor, and an additional 75 steel arrows to reclaim an accumulator.
Players may return to Ava in Draynor Manor, and tell her, "I seem to need a new device." She replies that the player is lucky that the attractors/accumulators return to Ava when lost, but it will cost them 999 coins to cover her expenses in refurbishing it.
Once the fee is paid, players receive Ava's attractor. To upgrade the attractor into an accumulator, players have to tell her: "I'd like to upgrade my device, please." For this, Ava asks for 75 steel arrows.
When players have 75 steel arrows in their inventory, Ava takes the arrows and the attractor, and gives them the accumulator. If you didn't bring 75 steel arrows with you, you can simply purchase them from Ava. If you didn't bring money, then go to Draynor bank.
[edit] Trivia
- It is possible to own both the Ava's accumulator and Ava's attractor at the same time. All one has to do is simply buy another, or upgrade a second Ava's attractor. That way you can have an infinite amount in your bank, they do not stack but you can carry more than one at a time.
- When wearing the Ava's accumulator in your house while in building mode, with a full inventory and filled arrow slots, you will receive a game message stating, "Ava's contraption makes an odd burping sound."
- Your Ava's device will not make arrows or other items while in a bank menu or grand exchange menu.
