The Armadyl godsword is one of the four legendary godswords that was fought over during the God Wars. Requiring 75 Attack to wield, it is created by attaching an Armadyl hilt to a completed godsword blade, which has no requirements and can be done by any player. Along with the Bandos godsword, the Saradomin godsword, and the Zamorak godsword, the Armadyl godsword carries one of the highest damage bonuses in the surface world, surpassed only by vesta's spear and the chaotic maul.
The armadyl godsword has a passive effect that hits 25% of the time; when it does, it raises the wielder's Attack and Strength levels by 1 each time, for up to 10% of the wielder's attack and strength levels. This boost does not stack with potions.
After the Evolution of Combat, the Armadyl godsword is considered the least desirable godsword in general because its effect of raising the wielder's attack and strength level by 1, up to 10% of the wielder's level, is considerably inferior to the boost given by super potions and does not stack with them. Any uses this effect may have boils down to saving a few inventory spaces a player would normally use for attack or strength potions, in the hope of lasting longer in PvM situations. However the Saradomin godsword is far superior at lasting longer in almost any conceivable situation and therefore has a downright superior effect. While it may be argued that one can use the AGS to last indefinitely in situations where prayer potions and food are not needed, it is impossible to do so without detrimenting your damage per second, as super potions or better potions provide a superior boost. The fact that this passive effect is completely overriden by potions and simply does nothing in most situations, as well as the weapon itself being more expensive than two other godswords whose passives aren't so easily overriden or even possible to override, makes this weapon rather undesirable.

- Before the Evolution of Combat, this weapon used to have a special attack, The Judgement, was capable of hitting a very large amount of damage. Under ideal conditions, a player could potentially deal over 1,000 damage to a monster with the special attack, with an even higher maximum hit during Castle Wars. This made the Armadyl godsword very popular for all PvP activities.
- Like other godswords and the God Wars Dungeon itself, the Armadyl godsword received a graphical update on the 5th September 2012. As a nod to Armadyl's aviansies, the blade now resembles a large feather.
- The Armadyl Godsword looks a bit like the broken sword, dubbed "Guthix's Sword", which is seen during the quest The World Wakes in the first room.
