Alaea crablets can only be found on Uncharted isles in the Arc region in groups of 6 crablets. Despite being a creature, the crystal deposit on the crablet's back acts as a mining resource, requiring level 97 Mining to be harvested. Mining the crablets produces alaea sea salt, sought after as an ingredient in shark soup. Salts may be sold to Salty Goods in the Waiko market for 5 chimes each.

When a player begins mining a crablet, it becomes a "Relaxed alaea crablet" and ceases movement until the deposit on its back has been depleted, indicated by a timed bar. The crablet will remain relaxed for a random amount of time between approximately four minutes and five and a half minutes. After the timer has expired, the crablet will be depleted and the player will no longer be able to mine from it. Relaxed crablets will deplete immediately if the player logs out or switches worlds.

Every three game ticks the player has a chance to harvest salt from the crablet's back. At level 99 Mining a player can expect to mine between 18–24 alaea sea salt per crablet without boosts; approximately 180,000–200,000 Mining experience per hour. With a quarrymaster aura, lava titan, magic golem outfit, crystal skillchompas, crystal pickaxe with furnace and honed perks, off-hand item with wise perk and decorated mining urns it is possible to achieve 330,000 experience per hour.

Crablets concept art

Concept art for the crablets found on uncharted isles.

  • Alaea crablets spawn around a pile of dead fish on uncharted isles. The "Dead fish" marks the minimap with a Mining spot map icon icon.
  • When depleting an alaea crablet of its alaea sea salt, a filterable message says "The salt crystals on the nearby crablet have disappeared."
  • Alaea crablets show up on the minimap as yellow dots. After they have been depleted, they disappear from the minimap.
  • Relogging into the game after an alaea crablet has been depleted, but before the day resets makes it disappear.
  • A relaxed crablet has an asterisk (*) before their name label, which normally indicates a monster that has been tagged in combat.
