Air Running in world 16.

Air rune running (or simply Air running) is a simple and easy way to obtain air runes or to gain Runecrafting experience. The most popular air running company is "Fast Free Airs", stationed in World 16. When World 16 is full it can also sometimes be found in neighboring World 15 (members world). Because of the release of skill assisting, there are now two forms of Air running. The newest version of air running requires the cooperation of two groups of people: runners and assisters. Assisters let runners temporarily utilize much higher runecrafting levels with which to craft air runes, while the assisters receive fast experience in return. The older, original version requires the cooperation of two similar groups of people: runners and runecrafters. Runners bring unnoted essence to the runecrafters who trade them the equivalent amount of noted essence as well as either coins or air runes.

[edit] Assisted Runners

This is for people who wish to gain air runes.

  1. Enter the air altar.
  2. Search for an assister. They will generally be the high leveled players or those shouting something like "8x assist Name", "8x Name" or merely "8x".
  3. Look him or her up on the hiscores to ensure that he or she has the required RC level for the level of assistance he or she offers. The best way to make sure a person isn't trying to scam you is, after saying their multiplicity, have them make use of the quick chat system which will state their level (Enter>S>N>2 or Enter>x>2). Skip this step if you already trust this person.
  4. Right-click on this player and select, "Req Assist". Wait for the "handshake" icon to appear on the lower right-hand corner of the main window. If the player is busy you may try another person or keep trying to request assistance.
  5. Craft your air runes.
  6. Deposit your air runes into the west Varrock bank, withdraw another 28 or 27 unnoted essence and repeat.
Notes
  • The experience bonus from air runecrafting gloves does not apply when you have requested assistance.
  • Explorer's ring 2 and 3 both give an average bonus of 1 extra air rune for 10 essence.
  • An Air tiara has a weight of 1 kg but allows direct clicking into the altar, while an air talisman is weightless but takes up one extra inventory space.

[edit] Profit table (based on GEMW prices):

This table shows the profit/loss if you buy your Rune Essence instead of mining it.

  • Essence: 63 coins
  • Air rune: 13 coins
Level of Assistance Assister level Profit per trip
2x 11 Coins  -1,036
3x 22 Coins  -672
4x 33 Coins  -308
5x 44 Coins  56
6x 55 Coins  420
7x 66 Coins  784
8x 77 Coins  1,148
9x 88 Coins  1,512
10x 99 Coins  1,876

[edit] Assisters

This is for people with higher levels of runecrafting who want to gain experience by assisting others.

  • Requirements: none, but having a higher runecrafting level (66-99) would be better.
  1. Enter the air altar.
  2. Shout "Ωx assist - β" where Ω is your air rune crafting multiplier and β is your username. Example: "8x assist - L0ssy".
  3. When someone requests assistance, click on his or her name on the chat window.
  4. Make sure you have runecrafting assistance enabled on your assistance window.
  5. Wait for him or her to craft his or her runes. You will know when this happens when you receive 140 or so runecrafting experience.
  6. Once the player is done, close the assistance window.
  7. Repeat steps 2-6 (or 3-6 if you are already well-known amongst runners) until you reach your 30k experience limit for the day.
Notes
  • Assister CANNOT make use of air runecrafting gloves. If they try to be assisted runecrafting, the experience and charge will be STOLEN by the assister!
  • A simplified shouting method would be "Ωx β" or even "Ωx", which letters refers to above.
  • About 220 assisting offer will fulfill 30,000 runecraft experience.

[edit] Noted Runner

  1. Runner has 25 rune essence and air talisman/tiara.
  2. They go to air altar on world 16.
  3. They find a person saying "open".
  4. They trade with the person who gives them 25 noted essence and some money.
  5. The runner goes back to the bank and repeats the process.
Note
  • Trade limit is more dependent on the runecrafter's more than the runner's, runners may switch between runecrafters.
  • It is recommended to bring air talisman and have zero weight while being a noted runner, as noted runner would have slightly more resting time than assisted runners.

[edit] Runecrafter

  1. The runecrafter has around 1000+ rune essence, some money and an air tiara
  2. They go to the air altar on world 16.
  3. They say: "Open Ω + ess back - β" where Ω is your price and β is your username. For example, "Open 2k + ess back - Playername."
  4. Once someone trades with you, give them 25 noted essence and your price of money.
  5. Accept the trade and craft the runes.
  6. Repeat the process.
Note
  • Trade limit increases from 5,000 to 10,000 coins when a player gains 34 quest points.
  • Trade limit is more dependent on the runecrafter's more than the runner's.
  • Runecrafters can make use of air runecrafting gloves.
  • A simplified shouting method would be "open Ω", omitting the name and "ess back" word. Ω refers to offer price.
  • A method to save excessive running energy is to run to west Varrock bank, deposit air runes and unnote 26 essences, then return to air altar to craft the runes. This can save some money as well.
  • The minimum offer should be 1000/1500gp, and increases by 500gp each, like 1000-1500-2000-2500-3000.
  • Always offer at the highest price among other runecrafters, stop when someone offers over 3000gp.
