Gizmo type Weapon
Maximum rank 3
Invention level required 89

Aftershock is an Invention perk that deals additional AoE damage for every 50,000 damage the player deals. It can be created in weapon gizmos.

Unequipping the perked weapon or switching to a different weapon without the perk resets the stored damage to 0. Switching to a different weapon with Aftershock of any rank prevents the damage stored from resetting.

Aftershock cannot hit the maximum percentage (40% per rank), as the damage range from Aftershock only goes in intervals of 0.4%. For example, a damage burst from Aftershock deals 32% or 32.4% ability damage, but never in between.[clarification needed]

Unprovoked monsters damaged by the perk do not become aggressive, with the exception of Automatons. While they do not immediately become aggressive, it begins the timer of their special attack. After a few seconds, they quake the area they currently stand on and proceed to attack the player who damaged them.

In PvP, damage stored in PvP is doubled and the damage dealt is halved on average. This means that a player using Aftershock only needs to deal 25,000 damage for the effect to activate. A player can "store" damage by attacking monsters and then attacking a player to activate Aftershock sooner. For example, if a player deals 40,000 damage to monsters and then 5,000 damage to other players or vice versa, Aftershock then activates.

Players with very high invention levels (115+) may often get the Aftershock perk using only 4 Ilujankan components, estimated at a rate of around 6/7[1]. Therefore, the disassembly of level 9 Dragon Rider lances or Refined Anima Core Legs of Zaros can be a viable option when looking for Aftershock 3, since they provide 4 Ilujankan components upon disassembly. On the remaining slot, a player can opt to add an additional component to pair Aftershock with, such as Demon Slayer, Dragon Slayer, Undead Slayer, or Invigorating 1.

TriviaEdit

  • The animation when the area-of-effect blast occurs is the same as the lightning on Freneskae.
