76king or 76k"ing (known as "25k"ing in F2P worlds) refers to a PKing technique within a PvP world in which two players swaps kills from each other as a relatively safe and simple method for earning large amounts of money in a short amount of given time.

[edit] Risks

  • Players caught abusing the PvP system WILL earn a minimum suspension, either through account or IP address, of AT LEAST 3 days or more. You have been warned.
  • Some player might scam their partners by not doing it.
  • You will get worse loot if you kill the same player in the next 24 hours.

[edit] Requirements

Because 75,000 coins is the minimum amount of value a player needs to risk in order to obtain high rewards with PKing, this was originally intended by Jagex to reward players for exhibiting their PvP skills with high rewards for high risk. (See Death and Drops (Loot)

. Now, players have abused this to their advantage.
a PvP world

First, a player needs to gain Earning Potential (EP) by being in a PvP world. When a player reaches 100% Earning Potential (with a friend) each player brings at least 75,000 coins as well as any other invaluable item (which makes the total worth rounded up to equal 76,000 coins) so that both meet the criteria of having the opportunity of staking a high amount in order to obtain a good drop. They then each take turns killing each other to obtain good drops with little risk involved.

[edit] History

When PvP worlds were first released many players earned many millions of coins with items such as the Dragonfire shield being on the drop table. Later, these items were removed but players still continued to use the trick for easy cash in a short amount of time.

Some players who abused a bug in which they could not be attack on PvP worlds and hence gain Earning Potential with little risk were banned for approximately 3 days. A few days later Jagex released Update:Anti-'76k'ing Measures on 26 October 2009 to address this issue. This, however, is being realised by some players to have not worked.

[edit] Trivia

  • 76king has inflated the prices of almost all of the items that are tradeable, by introducing more money than is lost on winning a match.
  • 76king is against the spirit of the game because of how unfair it is to others.
  • You cannot post about 76king other than the solutions on the runescape official forums.
