• 4 January - Mage Training Arena mini-game released.
• 10 January - Hand in the Sand quest released.
• 12 January - 5,000 RSC accounts are banned forever.
• 16 January - Agility Pyramid introduced.
• 19 January - Over 15,000 accounts were destroyed for Macroing in the 4th (present) version.
• 23 January - Enakhra's Lament quest released.
• 30 January - Runeversi and Runesquares were added to the Burthorpe Games Room.

• 7 February - Cabin Fever quest.
• 20 February - a bumper update (includes release of the Chaos Elemental and the Dragon Two Hander, more Treasure Trails rewards and graphics update in the following areas; Zanaris, Draynor Manor, Barbarian Village, Falador and Dark Wizards' Tower).
• 27 February - A Fairy Tale Part I quest.

• 10 April - The Rag and Bone Man quest is released.

• 31 May - Player Owned Houses are released under the Construction Skill.

• 21 June - Death to the Dorgeshuun quest released.

• 11 July - A Fairy Tale Part II quest is released.
• 17 July - The mini-game Pyramid Plunder is released.
• 24 July - The Lunar Diplomacy quest is released.
• 31 July - The smithable crossbows are released

• 15 August - The Eyes of Glouphrie quest released.
• 22 August - New range and mage prayers and charter ships are released. The Dragon Axe is improved so it is better than the rune axe.
• 29 August - A graphical update for dragons, demons, and giants is released.
• 31 August - Area guides released for the RuneScape Knowledge Base.

• 20 September - The quest Slug Menace is released
• 27 September - The skill tutors in lumbridge, the makeover of the player interface, and area sound effects are all introduced.
