This is what happened in 1998:
- The game DeviousMUD was made by Andrew Gower and Paul Gower. This was originally the first version of RuneScape, but it was never released to the public. It had several of the main RuneScape features, including Attack (the game may or may not have been PvP at that time), trade, and talk-to, all via a row of buttons at the bottom of the screen.
