This is a list of events that happened in 1998:
- The game DeviousMUD is made by Andrew Gower and Paul Gower. This was originally the first version of RuneScape, but it was never released to the public. It had several of the main RuneScape features, including Attack (the game may or may not have been PvP at that time, only one player ever played it), trade, and talk-to, all via a row of buttons at the botton of the screen. It was later released to the public for a few weeks in March 1999.
