Forum:Remove new updates
From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape
Per some some discussions ([1], [2]) we as a community generally don't really like these new "updates" to wikia (Special:MyHome, user masthead, Latest activity Widget). I propose that we officially gather consensus that we dislike them, so we can officially ask Wikia to officially remove these new updates from our wiki, if possible.

Support - Per one of the discussions, I find myself the redirect to Special:MyHome rather pointless considering all the work put into the main page, and the uselssness of Special:MyHome. —

Much faster I'm sure, and we don't have to bother Wikia and wait for a reply. (Also, I rather like the new masthead and My Home page, however I do not like how runescape.wikia.com redirects to the My Home page. Is there any way to JS could be customisable to meet these needs? thanks

- You can disable the redirect at runescape.wikia.com by going to Special:Preferences, click the Misc tab, and check "Disable my redirect to My Home" --Quarenon T | C | S 01:53, November 5, 2009 (UTC)

Alright, new proposal - 1. Keep the masthead, but add Catcrewser's scriptamajigger thing to MediaWiki:Common.js, and 2. use the other code from Forum:Wth? to remove the Latest activity widget.

Comment - Can't the activity box be changed back to the old recent changes box? Or at least the link?

Change redirect - I think the most important change that needs to happen is to change the redirect from My Home back to the main page. We want new users (and regulars for that matter) to be seeing the main page first, not the (imo silly) my home page. Any other changes you agree on I'll go with, but this is by far the most important change to me. Cheers,

- Tollerach, as explained by Quarenon, we can already change this with no extra work by going to Special:Preferences, clicking the Misc tab, then making sure the last option is checked, which disables the redirect to My Home. - You know, I do sorta like My Home actually, it's cool to see the most edited pages, and it's great as long as runescape.wikia.com redirects to the main page and not My Home. As said before, this can be fixed in Preferences. I love the new masthead, simply put, but I do absolutely hate the new activity feed, so, my decision would have to be Oppose 1, Support 2. Support both - The new box is a bit misleading, I thought the more tab would bring me to the Recent Changes, but it took me to Myhome. After all of this work of redoing the main page, I think we should make it so we can redirect to there.
